My intention was to show how beautiful I think the sun is with its surrounding planets. I wanted to show how it contrasts to the sizes, and colors to the surrounding planets. I decided to do this painting in a less realistic aspect than my earth and moon. I did this because when i think of the sun burning in our solar system that's how I imagine it to look. I wanted this one a little more creative and non-realistic compared to my previous one.
I investigated creative paintings of how the sun was done before by artists. I wanted to show how I view the sun when I look up at the day sky, not how scientist see it. I wanted to show how it brings life to the earth but also I wanted it to be a painting so the sun in the solar system. So I investig ated pictures that displayed what I wanted and used bits and pieces to form my vision. I researched painting of just the sun but added 2 and a half of the closest planets surrounding the sun.

I plan to have the sun as the big ball of fire it is but have almost like arms of flames reaching out towards the universe around it. I hadn't originally planned to have the planets in but after having a rough draft with out them it looked very plain so I decided to add those to add some detail. I planned to have some stars in the background of my painting but unfortunately I had forgotten to paint those in before taking in off the board, maybe I will go back in and add some sparkles to light up the night sky.
After I had finished my rough draft I hurried to my canvas and started drawing a quick outline to help me paint. Then, I started painting with acrylic paints. I had some trouble getting the sun the shapes and colors I wanted it to be but finally got what I intended to get. I painted the sun first and then the rest of our solar system int the background. After I finished that I quickly did the planets because they are not the main focus of the painting but just details to help bring notice to the sun.
I think I hit it spot on with the way I did the sun. I would have done the planets differently with more detail. I would have added stars to the background, and added more detail to the color of the sun. I like how I did the background it is the exact way I imagined, minus the stars. I think over all I did a pretty decent job capturing what I wanted even though I missed some of the details I would have liked.
